Love

Do I love you man
Once again
The same way
As before ?

I’ve seen you in between
Then and now
Now and then
We’ve met by chance
And parted.
Though your eyes lingered
And they penetrated
Whilst I failed to wonder
‘Does he still love?’

Could we still touch
And by touching make rain and thunder.
Or now, in a lightning flash of defeat,
Can I say what a blunder?
To cast aside
So many years?
Can we pretend
They were years for each to study life ?
To tread our destinies?
To trip on some rocky path ?
To cry, to shout, to anger, to laugh?

Or can we lighten the load
Of self deception
And say we should never have parted,
Or will that make us
Far too broken hearted ?
