Hospital Scene

Narrow is a corridor.
A man pushes against the hands of another man
Father and son.
Confusion in motion
Distress in action.
The father’s institutional clean, blue nightdress
Unravels
Exposes
A private
Fragile
Back.
“Where are you going Dad?”
“What are you looking at ?”
“He’s not usually like this”, the son reassures staff.
“I’ve never seen him like this”.
Dad silently and half-heartedly pushes once more against his son’s hands.
An empty wheelchair shudders nearby.
A man in white, with a stethoscope hurries past,
The sound of his shuffling , amplified by the current stillness of the two men.
Kindly strangers in blue, stand still,
Looking on.
